My story
I first became interested in healing through macrobiotics. I had a good friend in high school whose mother had cancer, and I watched as she cured herself solely by changing to a macrobiotic diet and lifestyle. This made a deep impression on me and catalyzed a strong conviction that given the right environment, the body and mind can create homeostasis. I took natural-foods cooking classes and healed myself from Meniere’s disease and chronic migraines through altering my diet and practicing yoga. I know from firsthand experience the kind of dedication and commitment it takes to change, but I also know that it is possible. I have been very fortunate to be able to use Acupuncture as a way to guide others towards this kind of shift.
I do not have children of my own, but I consider my work to be my “child”. I have dedicated my life to incorporating Acupuncture, massage and other modalities that have proven effective in my own life, such as meditation, yoga, Trager technique, Zero balancing, reflexology, relaxation techniques, aromatherapy, nutrition and good old-fashioned kindness.
I am also an animal lover and a vegan. In my free time I paint, cook, practice yoga and spend time in the Catskills listening to the frogs.
About Lucas
Lucas is a tiny (Chihuahua mix) rescue dog who has a very healing presence. He has been working with me as a “therapy dog” since he was eight weeks old. Lucas is sensitive to the work, and stays quietly on his bed during treatment times. There has been research about the benefits of the presence of animals on humans such as: lowering blood pressure, helping with psychological issues i.e. depression and anxiety, and lessening stress. People often say that Lucas adds to their experience of the treatment and they are always eager to see him.
